I went to size up the possibilities for photographing 'Duchess of Sutherland' on the 18th. The weather was typical Anglesey, blowing hard with low cloud and mist. The summer timetable 'Pendolino' haul only began on the Monday previously it was a class 221 'Voyager'. I didn't see the number of the 57 but the 'Pendolino' was 052. 158842 was on the 14.30 Holyhead to Llandudno Junction and 158821 was the 11.33 Birmingham to Holyhead.
In the event I decided to photograph the steam tour from the other side of the tunnel
