Standedge tunnel with Eastbound coal empties from Fiddler's ferry on 10-7-81
The empty trackbed in the foreground formerly had two additional lines. Just
west of diggle junction these lines diverged to form the Micklehurst loop
which ran down the opposite side of the valley to Stalybridge where the lines
re-joined. The Micklehust loop was used agreat deal by through trains not
needing to stop at Greenfield and Mossley.
