3rd May On the Manchester to Rochdale via
Hollinwood line. |

M50770 is at the rear of this two car 'Cravens'
unit approaching Oldham Mumps. Clegg St. parcels depot in the background.
Clegg Street Station was beyond the overbridge just to the right of the
depot. |

The same train leaves Mumps station and crosses
Mumps Bridge, a local landmark! |

A 'Derby' 'BRCW' hybrid two car train arrives
at Hollinwood. This was my local station, I was born about half a mile
from here and my parents lived near here until their deaths in 2000. Hollinwood
at one time had a quite extensive goods yard no doubt to serve the many
local industries All that remained at this time was a loop line used at
times by trains to/from Oldham Clegg Street Parcels depot.. The Asia cotton
mill in the background was one of the newer mills built in 1905 and was
one of the last in operation for its original purpose. It is now closed
and demolished. |
 |
A view of Hollinwood Station. Most of the original
L&Y buildings were below platform level to the left. At platform level
were quite extensive wooden buildings mainly on this platform beyond the
signal box. At the time of this phot the box was usually switched out. |

It was the Friday of a holiday weekend if I
remember correctly and I decided to have a day out at York, stopping off
at Leeds for a short time. This gallery has thirty odd images taken that
